Hi, I would like to find out what equipments/softwares I need to have if I want to record my own playing. I don't need something fancy, I just want to be sure the quality is decent enough so I can listen to it without being annoyed so that I can pinpoint good spots and problem spots, etc.

Could anyone suggest something?

If your goal is to use it as a self-examination tool, might I suggest a camcorder on a tripod? I have a small digital recording studio in my practice space which I use all the time, but I was at my parents house a few weeks back playing for the family, and my mother videotaped it.. Watching back, not only could I hear it, but I could see myself playing. I did notice some corrective measures I could take purely from a posture/hand position/movement standpoint.

A lot depends on how much money you have to spend. A very affordable way to go is with a Sony stereo mic, The Tascam USB 122 interface, and Cakewalk Home Studio Software.
These items are easy to set up and I have had very good results recording with this setup.
