I did!

Very cool!

I put my entire classical collection on it, listening now at work.. No more carrying CD's around everywhere!

I purchased one for my wife - she's a fan of audio books and the disk-drive based MP3 players "bookmark" when powered down. So the iPod became the player of choice.

As a surprise, I installed her entire CD audio collection plus 7 audio books. It is an "amazing" piece of technology. Two weeks ago I couldn't even spell iPod ;-), now I wish I had one!

Got one...

Any advice from folks? I'm probably going to use a windows machine to upload from my CD collection.

I have some advice: get some in-ear headphones (Sony's are great, and Etymotic's ER6i my dream headphones.)
You will hate the included Apple earbud headphones after that.

I'm using the iTunes software on a PC.. so far everything is going very smooth.. I put in a CD, it looks up the name/artist/track list from the internet and imports it right into my "library" - your whole library exists on your computer hard-drive, and when you plug in the iPod, it automatically updates.

about the headphones, yesterday I listened to it all day at work using Sony MDR-V50 headphones.. But I found after 8 hours, my neck was sore (not blasting levels or anything, but just wearing them all day)

Today I'm trying the in-ear buds that came with it.. So far I'm finding the sound quality quite acceptable.. I hadn't thought I would.

I've had my iPod for about a year now and purchased them for my kids for Christmas. I'm just beginning to play piano and have put my lessons CD on the iPod and then used a "T" connector for my headphones from my keyboard so I can hear both as needed.

My family is involved in some local musical theatre and the most creative use I've seen for the iPod was a keyboard player who used his iPod to hold all his synth samples and then played the "house" keyboard through his iPod to get all the sounds. I have no idea how it worked but I thought it was a pretty creative application.

Ah, mound... but the included ear buds aren't in-ear headphones...
Here:
Sony MDR-EX51

And here:
Etymotic\'s ER6i

This in-ear phones are placed inside your ear canal and a rubber plug isolates outside sounds. I got all hyped about them when I read articles regarding bass response and clarity, so I decided to get a pair to check them out. And the articles were right!
I got the Sony ones cause Etymotic's are so darn expensive. You have to get used to placing them correctly, but once you do this, you'll be in portable sound heaven smile

I am thinking of getting the 60GB iPod Photo very soon. Part of the draw is that I can download photos from my digital camera onto it when I travel. Does anyone know if I can also download video footage from a camcorder to the iPod via Firewire?

DuCamp: sweeeet... I'm gonna have to check those out.

Roxane - no idea about video. My guess is not.

I have had an iPod since they were first introduced. I still have my original 5gig model.

I gave iPod minis (one pink one blue) to my daughters for Christmas.

They love them!

Those in-ear headphones look really cool.

I got one for my wife and she is already hooked. We are in the process of ripping our CD collection. We are ripping to a high quality MP3 format instead of the default AAC format so that the music files are compatible with more devices (I have a Turtle Beach Audiotron that I'll get around to hooking up someday...).

Also I found that I needed to enable error correction during ripping in order to get a good quality (no skip) result.

A little late to this thead, but I received an iPod photo 40GB from my mom this Christmas. I have yet to fire it up since my iBook is in the shop, and I also have to update to Panther to use it with my USB 2.0 port; still running Jaguar...

But I am really excited to use it soon! smile

It's such a great device, ain't it?
Wanna know what I use it for besides its original functions?
As soon as I got it, I created different click tracks that last 20 minutes each using Reason (a software synth) with all the major tempo speeds and it's been my in-ear metronome since I bought it christmas '03.
