I wonder if anyone use the Zoom with an upright piano, and how does it sound ?

I use my digital for recording to PC but I prefer playing with my acoustic. I'm thinking of buying the Zoom for recording my upright.

I've used my H2 a lot to record an acoustic. Use your ear to move around the room while someone else plays the piano to see where it sounds good, then put the mic there. If I'm recording short sections to practice different phrasing, I just set it on top of the piano. I record my lesson every week on my teacher's grand, I set it in front of us next to the music rest so I can playback his comments and his playing.

Serge, Ragtime88 (the PW member who started the Zoom Mega-Thread and is ultimately responsible for everybody here who bought one) posted the first recordings using the Zoom with an upright (Schimmel). If you look at the thread, you'll see a photo of his setup on the first page, along with some links to his recordings.

I think the Zoom would work fine with an upright. thumb

Thanks Monica for that link - and thanks Serge for the topic. I'm in the same boat, with an upright and also looking for something to record with (so that I can contribute to the recitals smile ) With all those glowing recommendations in that thread looks like I have my Christmas present picked. Now I just have to tell the wife how much she has to fork out wink
