...with my peach of a teacher, Miss Bonnie. \:\( My piano teacher of 1 ˝ years is no longer my piano teacher. I made the decision to join (another) choir on Monday nights and Bonnie’s schedule is so full she doesn’t have room anywhere else for me. It’s also time for me to find someone closer to my new location (she was an hour away). Plus she is almost 70 and I know she’s exhausted and has told me that she’s moved all of her Monday evening students except me.

So, it was with great regret that I bid her a fond farewell..

However, I have a girlfriend who is a professional pianist and has offered to be my new teacher. I’ve taken her up on it but I hope it doesn’t strain our friendship at all. She can be tough and I’m such a wimp!

So, an era ends and another begins.

I'm off to practice (I'm NOT going to be the first to cry "uncle" in our practice challenge!) and then to Tuesday night choir!

Patty, what does it feel like to open your mouth and make a beautiful sound? I've never experienced it. I'm so envious. \:\(

Good luck with your new arrangement. It's weird how our teachers become our friends so quickly.

I'm sure my ex would have something to say about that. \:D

Actually to his credit, that was one of the few things he ever complimented me on.

I'll find out more about what my new teacher expects of me tomorrow night at Wednesday night choir practice. My gf is the pianist and director. We'll talk more then. Hope she's gentle with me. I'm such a delicate flower!

Patty,
It is hard to start with a new teacher. Good Luck. I had a teacher for 3 or 4 years and then in a night with several friends over wine, they convinced me I could do better. As painful as it was to switch, I have never regretted it. I am sorry you are losing a beloved teacher. You will find another who is wonderful. Hopefully it won't take too long. Let us know how it goes. It's a little like finding the perfect piano. Takes a while. Plus while they are "training" you, you are training them! \:\)
