Thanks, Alexander and Marie! I hear you about the stretching, particularly the left hand. I don't have big hands. I've seen others on youtube where they do 5, 2, 1, 2, basically flip over the wrist during the vi-IV-I-V progression. I have to do that with Fm, but for D♭, A♭ and E♭ I do 5, 3, 2, 1 and do more of an arm rotation/sweep - not sure what's the correct term. I tried doing the flip over the thumb for these chords, but it just didn't feel comfortable.

Fortunately, this isn't an issue during the second half of the piece.

Really nice job on I Giorni, bSharp!! It's such a pretty piece... it's one of the ten or so I try to keep memorized at all times. smile

bSharp(C)yclist, very nice!! Like Monica, this is one of the pieces I have on my constant-maintenance list, although I haven't ever really recorded it. I should do that...

I'm also looking forward to hearing your Nuvole Bianche. That is another one I always keep playable (and as I recall, the recording I shared in an ABF recital a while back was a true "fly by the seat of my pants" performance, might be due for a re-take...)

Is the AvantGrand a new instrument for you? How do you like it?

Started piano June 1999. My recordings at Box.Net:

Thanks Monica, Shiro and Linda. Yes, the N2 is new. I got it back in October. I'm really enjoying it. It's hard to go back and use the YDP-181, it feels all plasticky. I always struggled practicing on it and then going to my lesson and practicing on a baby grand. Now it's a little bit easier, but all pianos seem to feel different. The other thing I like about the N2 is that I think I can get a better dynamic range with it.

Some have suggested that I have should have waited for the N2X, which will be out this year I think. However, I think it will be pretty expensive, compared to what you can get the N2 now. I did have a little scare with the N2. One of the keys broke - not the key itself, but the action behind it. It was easily fixed under warranty. Just a bad part the technician said. It snapped along the glue/woodgrain line.

I hope to get a good recording. If not February then May. It's hard to get to the speed I would like and not flub something. I have to admit, I have a hard time controlling the energy that goes through me as I'm playing the piece. I end up playing too fast at the climax and my fingers fall apart, or slip on the flats .. bah! smile

Yes I agree it sounded very nice! Keep it up.

I have trouble with that transition between pianos also. The feel can be so different between a digital, an upright and a grand.
