I wanted to let everyone take the opportunity to listen to two pieces I have been working on with my new teacher. Remember that this is what I have achieved after ten lessons and that it isn't always easy to record yourself!

I'd be interested in hearing your comments as sometimes I feel that I send out the wrong signals to readers on this forum.

I think your progress has been swift. You sound better than 10 lessons. thumb

Being a beginner myself im not a good person to give precise pointers. But I know when I hear something that sounds good. And especially after just ten lessons I think you sound great. Id like to know where you got that version of "Morning has Broken" ???? Id like to give it a try. Ive only been playing for 7-months so I think I could tackle it, maybe.

Thanks, KaylaX

Tony - I liked them both. I particularily liked the way you carried the melody in the left hand on Morning has Broken - Very Nice.

Well done, Ragtime Clown! I too like your version of Morning Has Broken - it's much richer than the versions I've played so far. I may want to try that one too.

Hey, you're GREAT! I appreciate the links, and would like to get the music for myself.

I've been playing since August 1, mostly classical style, and I don't think I can play anything as complicated at Morning Has Broken, but I'd like to try.

Please keep us posted.

Thanks all!

When I arrived at my lesson last week my teacher said 'Go ahead and warm up, I'm just printing you off something that will really make you tear your hair out'.

I sat down at his beautiful Yamaha Grand and warmed up. He brought in the piece and said I want you to make an attempt at it for next week.

I went home and for 3 solid days of practice I couldn't for the life of me play it in any shape or form until this morning it just seems to flow out of me.

It was a much faster piece than normal and mainly all in sem-quavers, so I had to play much quicker. My reading has increased in speed too and for anyone not quite as far forward as me I can confidently say that a lot of the notes become quite predictable after you practice.

A few days ago I was questioning whether I stay with him after Christmas - you bet I will!!

Awesome. I loved Morning Has Broken, a piece I've not yet tried. Fantastic job in 10 weeks!

Awesome progress, Tony. I was prepared for something "really" beginnerish (is that word?), but pleasantly surprised. Rhythm nice and steady and surprisingly solid melody line. You've got a good ear. Keep up the good work.
