I don't understand the fingering in the base in this Schumann piece. Von fremden Landren und Menschen from Kinderszenen. It's on page 6 urtext edition. I'm guessing that g,b is a chord but d and g how do I play this? and b flat, c sharp e the same question.

My teacher is on vacation and sometimes I just like to try to play things for "fun" and this particular piece is a little tricky. I want to give it the good ole "college try" before giving up on it.

Thanks for helping out.

Hi musdan,

I have a couple of editions with this piece. The one with the most detailed fingering tips just gives the right hand melody and fingering for the first set of each triplet in the left hand.

The impression I am getting is to use 2 4 for the g b, play d with your left thumb, g with your right thumb then 2 5 for the b flat c sharp, e with the left thumb and g again with your right thumb.

Someone on the forum posted this piece previously - not sure if it was piano bar or recital - so hopefully they will post their fingering.

Rich

Update, I found this thread over in the pianist corner

http://www.pianoworld.com/ubb/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?/topic/2/12607.html

The suggestion there is to use a rotation of the left hand wrist to play 24, 1, 2 for the first triplet. Then I would gather 25, 1, 2 for the second triplet. and so on.
