It was a small recital. I just had to play in front 3-families including my own. I was the only adult beginner, or adult at all for that matter, the other adult chickened out. I had a great time. BUt I had to keep reminding myself to breath. And yes, I did mess up but I just played thru my mistakes. I kept hitting keys that I knew where the wrong keys. I played "simple gifts"(from my Faber and Faber adult all in one book 1), "Jingle Bells"(from a Christmas recital book 2 by Helen Marlais), and "There's no place like home for the Holidays"(from Faber's Christmas for all time book 1). It was a great confidence booster. And, playing on someone else's piano gave me a new appreciation for my own piano at home.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a wonderfull Christmas...........

Congratulations on your successful recital! No doubt that other adult, will regret "chickening" out on this event.

I know what you mean about new appreciation for your own piano. I am also spoiled.

Congrats!!! How about a recording? :p Nice achievement. My son had his second recital. There was talk I may have one next month. Yet Kawai, HI , has probably lied to me about her teacher not having them, hmmmmm.....I like the smaller recitals better. Therefore it's not a 2 1/2 ordeal of hyperactive kids trying to sit still.

Way to go, KaylaX! So what if you messed up (and everyone will tell you that your audience notices far less than you think they do), you had to courage to get up there and do it, unlike that other adult. Enjoy your accomplishment!

How did you like playing 2 pieces? Did you play them back to back, or did you have to leave the piano and return? Did you find yourself more relaxed on the second?

It seems like it could be relaxing, after having survived one piece, to go on to the second (or not, depending on your personality!)

Sounds like a fun time, anyway, and congrats again for doing it!

Great job on the recital!! I still have yet to do a recital other than in front of my kids who don't care what and how I play. Their too easy of an audience to build much confidence. Keep it up.

I recently performed in my 1st recital and was also the only adult. I had a bad case of (as I'm now told) "Sewing Machine Leg" but I got through approx 1/2 my piece and was pretty chuffed in the end.

Thanks for all the CONGRATS!!!!! It was a wonderfull experience and unfortunitly I did not record it otherwise I would have figured out a way to post it. But, I had a great time, and id do it again in a heartbeat!!!!

TTigg.... Its nice to know I wasnt the only adult performing with a bunch of kids. Did you have a big audience???? and what did you play???

Yay Congrats Kaylax, looks like we have another ham. I too love playing in front of people, especially duets with my teacher. It's a blast isnt it?

Ya I think duets are becoming my favorite. I thought at first that it was a drag cause I like to just make pretty music at home but duets are Cool!!!!! So my problem now is that I need to find a friend here where I live that is at my same level that I can do duets with just for fun. And, its fun performing duets. I can enjoy my piano playing much better without feeling like all eyes are on me.
