http://www.mwmtv.co.uk/index.html TTake a look at the material on this site. The demos are free and give you an insight as to whats happening in each song. You have to purchase credits to enable you to download an entire song but it looks quite professional. Has anyone evr tried it before?

No but I've seen it. It looks a little bit expensive . It seems you can only watch video on their media player. It's not really portable, I would prefer a DVD.
I will give it a try one day. You can ask Rodney, he seems to have tried every piano course.

I have just joined and downloaded THREE songs from The Beatles. I have to say I am really pleased with the high quality video presentations, player ability, clarity and download speeds. This is REAL on-line learning and I am very pleased with it.

£5.00 = $9.90452 OUCH! I actually like the look of this a lot, but I think I agree with Serge88 - for the price, I'd want a DVD or at least a video I could download to my portable media player. EDIT: Took a look at the FAQ and this is what it said: Can I play my downloaded lessons on another PC? Due to the strict Digital Rights Management built into our Media Player to protect Artists' Copyright, a lesson can only be played on the computer that downloaded it. Your Media Player is licenced only to the original PC it was installed on.

That's great,
can you tell me the size (resolution) of the video ? Can you play it with Microsoft Media player ?
Is it easy to fast forward or rewind ?

Picture resolution is of a very high quality, not sure about resolution but its not youTube style - its broadcast quality! You can only play the video on their stand-alone MWMTV Media player which is very good. It has the ability to list the entire library of songs available and after you are logged on you can view your own personal library collection. It is very easy to pause, rewind, move forward etc.
By the way, you can join (its free) download the media player and have a look at the demos that are available of every song. That way you can judge for yourself.
It may be expensive when you consider that each song is broken up unto lessons and each lesson is seperatly priced. However, if you buy the 'playthrough' videos to each track they should you the entire song, though at tempo, and you can still see how they player manages the song.

Having just bought the download of Lady Madonna I am playing this song, not fluently I must admit. but I have the bass riff, melody and piano solo all practiced and its amazing to play. What I have done is made some notes from the video tutorial to my Lady Madonna printed music sheets. I am also working on several other songs from the site. Money well spent!

Hi folks this is Phil from MWMTV thanks for all comments regarding the site. I'll be on the forum regularly and will be glad to discuss any piano issues form the point of view of a professional piano bar player/singer and teacher. Having tavelled around in hotels and ships playing as a solo player with no drum machines or other keyboard accompaniment, I always listen carefully to the track of a song and try to pick up key points of drums, melody lines and bass lines and then incorporate it into my delivery. I try and make it full and effective backing to a voice, so you end up sounding a bit like a 3 piece band. One problem is, it's difficult working with a band playing piano like this. I went for an audition with an 8 piece band years ago and the band leader kicked me out. He said "You're playing the Guitarists part the Bass players part the Sax part and the Piano Part" From then on I worked on my own!
Nice to meet you all.I'll welcome any questions or comments.

Phil, welcome to the forum! I get the feeling that having started the discussion on MWMTV I may have prompted you to join. I purchased my first lessons just a few days ago and I am already playing three new songs on piano. I really look forward to seeing more material in your song library and mine!
I have had endless discussions with pianists including teachers about how many of my favourite tunes are interpreted in sheet music and make them almost impossible to play.
I would dearly love to see/hear video of Gilbert O'Sullivans hits - Alone Again(Naturally)/Nothing Rhymed and Clair - I certainly would be first in the queue to buy them.
By the way, which piano are you playing in the MWMTV videos? Sounds great.
Glad you joined, will be bouncing many questions off you,
Cheers Tony

I've also used this site and found it really helpful as an adult beginner. Being able to play a song without having to go through all the theoretical background and traditional practicing first was a real buzz! Keep up the good work.

Hi Tony,
I'm a bit of a novice at this forum business but I'm getting the hang of it. Have been away for a few days and was just reviewing your last message. The piano I use is a Roland HP-3e digital piano. It's about 4 years old and has a very responsive action. I think manufactures tend to vary their models quite regularly and this one I believe has been superceded now but I'm sure they do something similar. Oh, and yes you did inspire me to join the forum, I think I've got lots of things to add when I get into the stride of how to use the Forum and how often to check it out. I used to love Gilbert O'sullivans songs, I think I've played most of his well known one's over the years.

Phil, I'm awaiting delivery of the new Roland FP-7 which I saw demonstrated recently in Glasgow. Should be with me over the next few days.
I'm really looking forward to hearing and seeing those Gilbert songs on MWMTV !!

Hi Tony,
I've sort of collected pianos over the years, some I've got rid of some I still have. Occaisionally I have cause to get another. Several months ago I sold my gigging Yamaha Clav. and bought something that was 2ton lighter. It was a Roland FP-4 the little brother to the one you're getting. It's the best stage piano I've ever tried. When I baught mine, 3 other piano players I know also bought one. You'll love the FP-7 it's very similar to the FP-4. I hope you got a good deal on it. I know where there is one now for about £900.

Phil, I managed to get the FP-7 for £799 including free delivery to N.Ireland from www.eddiemoorsmusic.co.uk in south of England. I added the nice solid stand to the order bringing it to £888 delivered. I am really looking forward to it. Cheers Tony

Good for you Tony, sounds like a deal!
By the way, do you know the Regency Hotel in Botanic ave in Belfast?
I used to play there in the 80's in fact when it was completely re-furbished with restuarant and Piano Bar, I opened with another Piano player called Phil Coulter.

Phil,
I passed it just the other evening going to a Vaudeville night at The Empire Music Hall in Botantic Avenue. It was a fantastic night, Duke Special headlined with a mixture of all sorts including a fantastic cocktail piano player. Lots of rag and early 1920s stuff on piano!
Have sent you a Personal Message.
Cheers

Tony,
I'm glad to hear the old place is still going as a piano players venue, I played there on and off for a few years, a week at a time. I had some good laughs with the staff.
Where did you send the personal message?
