Which one would you like to learn?

No problem, Greg...I might as well delete mine also.

I forgot to mention that I do have a major project that will take me a couple of years. The 48.1 is still waiting in the wings for me. I DO intend to play this beauty, one day...I do hope in this lifetime.

I'm not completely sure at the moment, but the recital hasn't been formally announced yet. Perhaps I'll ask the guys in the PC, but then again, they'll just tell me 'If you can play them, you don't need to be asking' or something like that.

Anyway, 25.3 and 25.5 are quite underplayed, so maybe I'll do one of them. But I'd also like the challenge of 11 or 12. So many Etudes to choose from... But from what discussion I've heard, I'm not even sure if we're doing this.

Also, you mentioned 25/10. Most of the challenge with it is physical rather than mental - it is one of my many "unfinished" projects, from back when I was not much older than you. t does not require a delicate touch, but does demand strength. Given you have large hands I think you could render a powerful performance of it if you wanted.

So if no one else is interested we three could form a pact to be the "curtain raiser" for the Mazurka Marathon in Oct. 2008. Let's try to leave PC out of this, just keep it low key and low pressure, no attempt to cover all the etudes. I'm sure a few more "Devoteds" will join us if no one else will. Liszt Addict said he would. I've been working on 10/12 since 12/05 and it's almost in the polishing stage now. That one's my baby.

That is sounding like a more achieveable goal. I learned something today about my etude of choice that could present a psychological barrier...

Perhaps I should do 25/10. It's well suited to my messy and loud technique. I might butcher the middle section though. But I'm sure I have the stamina from the Alkan Allegro Barbaro.

And Frycek - I think you'll do a wonderful job with 10/12.

I'd be happy to do 25/1. I already played it for one of our recitals but it still needs to be polished and brought up to tempo. Polishing is always lots of fun.

I'm working on op.10 no.3 and op.25 no.1, can do either one (if jazzyprof is doing the latter than I'd have to do the first)

Wow! We're getting a lot of takers.

I *suck* at polishing, that's probably why my stuff is messy.

Is it just me, or is the recital site down? It keeps timing out when I try and access it.

Cannot get to it either...

If we exceeded 500GB data transfer we would be locked out. Also the IP address (http://216.185.128.151/) gives a "site temporarily unavailable" message. I really doubt there have been 500GB of downloads in four days...

I can get to its FTP.

The problem will likely correct itself in an hour or so.

Tenatively for Etudes, we have, in opus order:

Theowne: 10/3
Frycek: 10/12
jprof: 25/1
gerg: 25/6
playadom: 25/10

Are we up to it? eek

We have a year.

I'm going to go to the sheetmusicarchive and check out the score.

Ugh.... I hate this IMSLP issue...

We're up to it. Do you think it might be time to start our own thread?

It may be silly but I am trepidatious about that, Frycek. Our little discussion here is somewhat sheltered because, by now, everyone else on PW is filtering out all the Preludes-related stuff.

Will send you a PM.
