I'm going to start my Mazurka *now*. There's less time between these two recitals, and I want a good performance. Although my piano and laptop won't do it any justice...

Congratulations to everyone. The performances are wonderful and it is a unique experience to hear all these different interpretations, on different instruments, all in one place. We're all so used to hearing one performer on one instrument that I think you may have uncovered a new trend in recording. Your hard work on practicing and recording is very much appreciated.

Hmm... I'm definetely in that Etude Euphoria recital, and will probably be in that Mazurka one. These recitals are very interesting.

Hmmm. There's really too many to choose from. I'd like to learn several, but it would be crazy to do 2 or 3 in one recital.

Kathleen, take a look at the last etude, op. post (sorry, can't remember the key). I think you would like it. It's only two pages, slow, and much easier than 28/17 -- and btw, as everyone else has said, your performances of the preludes were fantastic!

Haha, I guess Greg really inspired everyone with this preludes recital, now we have people signing up for both Mazurka and Etude recitals the day after.

I would be in a panic to sign up in hopes of snagging something approachable - most of these would be ridiculous for me to try. Any recommendations on an easier etude?
thanks

PianoAgain: I can't find any etude below an 8! And I am taking a break from that kind of abuse (just kidding...but the 17th was reeeallllyyy difficult for me.) I want to stick with pieces I can learn in several weeks, not months. But thank you for thinking of me and thank you so much for your wonderful compliment. It was sort of an "out-of-body" experience.

And, by the way, where is this Etude Euphoria sign-up? Not that I plan on joining, just wondering if there is an active post going on.

As far as I know, we only have the Mazurka Marathon, pieces which is so readily accessible to many. So please give them a listen and then get on the thread to the first page. The very first page lists the mazurkas already "spoken for," but there are many more to choose from.

Mistaya: As you may have guessed already, there is no such thing as an easy etude, unless you're a professional. Sorry...

Kathleen

"The bees" (I think it's Op.25 No.2) is, in my opinion, the easiest etude. Give it a try.

Kathleen,
I very much enjoyed your preludes - you play with such feeling and understanding - beautiful.

I did realize that the etudes were level 8 plus, but often within such a grouping, some will be more approachable than others. Perhaps I'll take a pass as well and take on a beautiful nocturne. I did find the prelude recital to be very motivating and it made me work harder at the polishing stage than I would have otherwise done.

Recently, there was a post in the pianist corner talking about the difficulty of every etude. Perhaps you would like to take a look at it:

Thanks, AQP87
I'll have a try through 10.2 and a couple of others (10.9,25.2 and 25.12 look appealing). The link was very helpful.

I've always loved 25/11 and boy would it be a challenge!!! Began studying it years ago - just one of many unfinished projects. However, I expect it should be taken by someone else - it's probably more worthy of someone along the lines of a LisztAddict or a Hershey.

I have been studying 25/6 ("thirds") off and on - and PW's own JBiegel "owns" this piece.

I could never quite get that 25/6 up to speed. 10/2 was also on the slow side. frown

Hmm. 25/10 looks good for me, I'm strong with octaves. I'd LOVE to do 25/11, it's a great piece. 25/12 is amazing, might also consider that. But then there's 25/3 which is good. 25/5 is so underplayed. Love the middle section.

And there's 10.2 which is just like my prelude. And reading through my mazurka today, I realized that it has the exact same thing, the note with thumb and lots of 45 action.
