My thinking was LisztAddict was only performing one (#24) and would WANT more participation.

I do agree that playing six, though, is too far a swing in the other direction.

Let us know what you hear back.

"Let's see what and if we hear from the three others. Then maybe we could post our need on the Pianist Corner. [Help] Maybe they will take pity on us. I will look at #10 and #11. If I have to, I will play one. But I hope no one will be listening. [Eek!]"

That's the spirit!!!! thumb You've got "only" #17 right now, correct?

"You've only got #17...right?" Boy, I love you, Greg. "Only," he says, as I sit here with my arm cradled in a heating pad.

Officially, yes, I "only" have #17. 10 or 11 only if there is absolutely no one else around to play them.

I'm not sure what is going on in this thread, but if it means anything, I know a few preludes myself, including op.28 no.6 and would be glad to help if needed....

Am I allowed to post a recording of a different prelude that I've just started(once I finish, which will be before the date)? It's 22, BTW.

Also, I'd be open to backing up some of preludes like #10, 11, or 19.

So Kathleen, THeowne, Playadom, who would like which of #5,10,11,19? Remember, two months to go!

Greg

Darn. And I wasted the whole summer on an Etude.

I think I can pull out a Prelude though. Sign me up!

Hi Theowne:

We are planning on putting on a concert of all 24 of Chopin preludes on October 17, as a commemoration of his death. We need volunteers for 5, 10, 11 and 14, I think, right now. 10 and 11 are about middle-middle level whereas the other two are difficult.

However, if you have the music, give them a listen, You have two months to learn and record. We would love to have a "new face" amongst us "old faces (I speak for myself only, of course). Please let us know. It will be tough going, but if you love Chopin (and who doesn't?), it IS possible.

Regards,
Kathleen

Good Gravy and Awesome! Do those two go together?

Which prelude did you have in mind, Pianolicious?
5, 10, 11, 19? If you can play an etude, you surely can play either 5 or 19, right?

Look forward to your reply...

Boy, we are hopping!!

Kathleen, we have a few new faces.

Pianolicious & Theowne. Additionally, we have a familiar face in Playadom, who has also volunteered to help.

Who wants what?

I'll start by taking a bold stab in the dark here, in the hopes of generating controversy and discussion, so we can get these hammered out.

Remember, we are waiting for a day or so for Ragnhild and Op30No3 (the original to respond...

5 - pianolicious
10 - playadom
11 - Theowne
14 - pianolicious
19 - Theowne

This is RANDOM - and subject to change if Op30No3 and Ragnhild show up and still want to participate! Would you folks discuss based on preferences?

Hi Again THEowne: I watched your tape with you playing Debussy. I think 10 or 11 will be great for you. They are much faster than what you played but have that broken chord quality. Let me know which one you like, and I will take the other.

Kathlenn

Uh, no smile

I think Playadom just wants to post it here for us to listen to, without relation to the recital.

I have some experience with Prelude No.11, so I would be happy to pick it up. As for 19 (per gerg's list), well I'd take it if no on else wants it, but there is of course the risk that I won't be able to get it perfect in two months time, just to keep that in mind.

If I can ask a dumb question, do preludes 25 & 26 on the list refer to the op.45 and post hum. preludes?

Yes, Theowne, it does refer to those two - the Op 45 being 25.

The answer to your question is yes.

5 - pianolicious
10 - playadom
11 - Theowne
14 - pianolicious
19 - LisztAddict or playadom

playadom, I suspect you will have your hands very full with #12 - a NASTY excercise in quick finger transfers on the same keys. (I played with it a bit, just to see what you are up against. I don't envy you!)

Wow...that was fast!

Thank you all. If my eyes are not deceiving me, I think we have a 'GO'!

THEOwne: Please do not worry about being perfect. We are, afterall, non-professionals (although some of us could go on the stage and really make some money!!).

We are Adult Beginners, whatever that might mean. And we should just think about doing the best we can. So please, keep that in mind.

And welcome to all "new" faces. [Linked Image]

Thanks for the welcome thumb

I suppose that reinforces what I said earlier, I would be glad to do No.19 as well (No.11 is rather short, anyhow), but if someone else thinks that they could do better, has more time (meaning less additional pieces they're working on), or has experience with it, etc, then I wouldn't argue with that.
