I'm sitting at the end of the couch in my family room, where I've set up my desktop. I have on my earphones, which are plugged into the computer so I can listen to youtube and/or members' recordings. Then I have another set of earphones around my neck that are plugged into my iPod, so I can listen to a Chopin piece should it be mentioned on the forum. And since I have to wear my piano glasses when I'm not only playing the piano but also to read the computer screen, I have them on a gold cord, also around my neck. I keep my "normal" glasses in my blouse pocket to keep them handy. I'm forever switching the two pair back and forth, depending on what I'm doing. Let us not forget my cell phone (we got rid of our land line last year). I have a habit of leaving it all around the house, so I have to carry it with me. It's clipped to the pocket on my blouse. And naturally, the keyboard is on my lap. I have been debating whether or not to get another gold cord to keep my regular glasses around my neck and not in my pocket because they keep falling out. mad

Do you find the above just a bit overboard? help Isn't life supposed to get less complicated? confused

Nah... that's just the way it is now.. wink

I had a similar thought last week. I was trying to listen to a partly completed song track that somebody had asked the (guitar) forum members to contribute a solo to. I had two sets of earphones on, balanced so that the sound from one was going into one ear (playing the backing track) and the other headphone was connected to a keyboard and feeding the sound of that into the other ear.... I was playing the keyboard (using a guitar or saxophone voicing) with one hand, and operating sections of the backing track out of some editing software with the mouse in the other hand.... eek

I have slightly different glasses for the screen and the keyboard, so I had to wear the multifocals instead and rock my head back and forwards, like a chicken pecking up seed, just to see what what was going on... Plus the two thing are at right angles not next to each other...

Not to be left out, my feet were taking turning trying out sub-rhythms.

It felt all very geeky and was lots of fun. But I still didn't didn't manage to write a decent solo! laugh

Chris

Who needs feet of clay? I can get into enough trouble with feet made of regular foot stuff...

Wow! You guys are talented! I'm the one you see fall off the treadmill when I drop my iPod...and it's not moving yet.

Hi Kawai:

Speaking of treadmills... I have one gathering dust down in the basement (doesn't everyone?). But years ago, when I was "into" exercising everyday, I was trotting along at a pretty good pace, when husband (who didn't know I was downstairs) flipped the light switch and I came to such a sudden stop that even my hair hurt. Now that's my reason for not exercising anymore.

I like the way you think. I stubbed my toe on my "piece of furniture" and immediately turned it into a storage place to keep stuff off the floor. Works great (not according to the wife, though...).

Well, gmm1...if I follow your line of thinking...I slipped on a newly-mopped floor in my powder room and slammed against the toilet and broke two ribs!!

Now are you advocating that I get rid of that toilet and use it as an outdoor flower urn?

Hi Kathleen,

How about only using one set of headphones - just unplug from computer to listen to ipod and vice-versa?

Chardonnay: NOW that's defnitely a good idea!
thumb

Euan: I did think of that, but it would entail my bending over the rather large arm rest of the couch, trying to find the right cord to pull out (and naturally my glasses would fall out of my pocket), then when I had to switch back...I would have to get up, put the lamp on, walk around the back of the computer, put my regular glasses back on, use the flashlight and then find that little green hole into which I need to plug the headphones. Sigh....too much bother.

Thanks anyhow. smile
