Dude, we were there last week, too! A couple of days in NYC for a wedding, then out to Montauk. Got back Saturday night.

I think I saw your family there.

Alright, *now* I have a story. This is really weird, but today I've been getting all kinds of PMs asking how much I want for my piano. What's up with that?

I wouldn't be surprised.....We were in the city on Weds/Thursday, then drove back Thursday afternoon (surprisingly little traffic). Took my daughter to see Phantom, and later that night, took my sister in law to see "Sweeney Todd." (I think I wrote this in another thread).

piano00b, trying to get my piece of carp piano into Slovenia would likely be seen as a hostile act and could sour the diplomatic relations between our two countries. For the sake of international security and diplomacy, it should never leave these borders.

kokomo, then we missed each other. We left NYC last Tuesday to head out to Long Island. The only things we saw in the city during our brief stay were Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the American Girl Place (woo-hoo!), and Ben's Kosher Deli (my personal favorite). That was all crammed into one day.

When I was little, I was home with the flu. My sister was supposed to be babysitting me, but instead, she was outside talking with her girlie friends, so I went into her room and decapitated all of her Barbies. Then I went to the kitchen and emptied out the ice dispenser. Then I ran hot water in the sink to get rid of the ice. Next, I put all of the Barbies' heads in the ice dispenser. When she came in, I moaned that I had a fever and asked for a glass of ice water. It sounded something like this:

"rrrrrrrrrrrr... ka-klink! ka-klink! ka-klink!"

"AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! FRANK!!!!! I AM GOING TO KICK YOUR FACE IN!!!!!"

(and yes, it was worth it) laugh

OOH, OOH! I have a lightning story! :p

Many years ago I was working in Taipei and decided to visit the infamous snake market one evening.

The market was a bit weird/gruesome so I was already feeling uneasy. Next thing I know, I felt my hair stand on end (a miracle in itself-just look at my avatar!), and heard an enormous buzzing sound at the top of a telephone pole just a few feet away. Then KABOOM! eek

(Lightning struck the pole)

I'm glad I didn't end up fried, like some of those snakes.

Must be [markb has a piano for sale] something in the air. Or maybe [buy markb's piano] the power of positive thinking???

Ok Irish Mak, this ones for you.

Back in my steroid-riddled glory days of weight lifting and bodybuilding, I was asked to work security at an upcoming outdoor AC/DC concert.

I had never worked "security" before, and had no idea what I was in for!, but I accepted the offer nontheless.

The next day when I arrived at the stadium, I had met with about 30 other "security personel" [just a bunch of hired thugs!!], and the bands promoter decided that it would be cool to "walk" the lead singer of AC/DC into the crowd while performing a song.

I'm not sure why, but he picked me to be the person to put Angus on top of my shoulders and walk him into the crowd of around 30k people surrounded by only 30 other "security" personel.

The song was "for those about to rock...we salute you", and after the cannon shot off to start the song, I proceeded to walk into the crowd with Angus around my neck.

At first, it was incredibly exciting, until we all started to realize that the math of 30 bouncers vs 30k wacked out fans just did'nt cut it!!

The drunk/stoned/triped out concert goers decided that they all wanted to "touch" Angus, possibly even wanting some sort of a souvenier!

The 30 security people could in no-way hold back the "rush" of the crowd and before long things got WAY out of control!!

Long story short, we all surrounded Angus and crawled through the stages scaffolding back up onto the stage where actual armed police officers took control of the situation!

After a short intermission, the concert resumed without any further complications; however, no more walks into the crowd for obvious reasons!

I later learned that-that was the one and only time AC/DC attempted to perform amongst the crowd. Looking back, it was a very scary event for everyone involved, but it is an event that I will never forget!!

I had never spoken to Angus again since that occurance, but I know that he will always remember that day as well!!

Well,

I bought a piano last week, and I don't think it is MarkB's! I am too petrified of comments from the POPs here to post about it...

And my one and only daughter is at camp for 4 weeks. The hormonal balance of our home has shifted. My 2 sons, My DH and My (male) exchange student have me outnumbered. And they love (electric) guitar. En masse. I need noise cancelling headphones.

I wanna go to camp too.

AQP and Dorrie: Let's hear about your pianos!

I can't wait until my kids can go to overnight camp. Three daughters and a wife here--talk about hormonal imbalance. The only other known males are a gerbil and at least one fish.
