Finally, after half year using a keyboard, I bought myself a digital piano today. I spend a lot of time trying all models, discussing it over at the digital part of this forum and decided.
And now it is in my home! Woohoo. I will have to move some furniture around to make room for it. But I can now really start to learn playing.

I'm terribly excited!

First impression. Being used to a keyboard, I thought the weighted keys would give problems, but they do not. I love those. I really need to get used to the new sounds this piano makes, its different from my keyboard (it should be better, but it feels 'wrong' sometimes).

Maybe I'll post some pictures here in addition to all those beautiful images of the grands some of you have smile .

congratulations on your new piano (p250)!

i know that you would get use to the key action pretty quickly, but to really get good control over keys would take time. as a beginner you may not notice, but you will as you progress, and intermediate and advanced pieces require more on your techniques, and you'd get to the point that you may have to work on some techniques in order to be able to play some passages. but, hey, that's the fun about piano playing...

Sure signa,
I need more technique, better sight reading, better rythm, better ear, hmmm, well I'm just a beginner. I was just surprised I was able to play anything smile .

I moved all my furniture around to make room for it, and its now ok. Not ideal, but ok. Annoying thing is I cut my finger moving around a large computer screen, and playing piano with a bandage...well. Tomorrow will be better wink

hey laurens, sorry bout the cut on your finger,it's murphy's law isn't it.

i'm sure it sounds a little stange after being used to your KB. It's like speaking english with a different accent. you'll get used to it.from what i've seen from the functions on it the P250 looks like it rocks.

Yes exactly. when i first bought my yamaha u3 my daughter and I were not used to the new sound and pondering how come the KB sounds better. However, just after a while we never turn back to the keyboard anymore and my daughter was just telling me that day how nice a piano sounds.

It is really a funny effect. I'm slowly getting used to the sound. Weird psychological effect: the P250 sounded great when my girlfriend was just tapping the keys (she cant play), but sounded odd to me when I was playing (and yes, I play better:).

Laurens,

Congratulations on finally taking the plunge!

Are you saying you are having second thoughts or just making an observation of the sound? Don't forget that the ultimate sound evaluation would be made with some top grade head phones or by playing it through a first rate sound system.

The on-board speakers are good and convenient but (from what I've read) not up to the ultimate sound capabilities of the instrument.

palley,
I have very good head phones. They made a heck of of difference on my keyboard and they also make quite a difference on the P250. Would love to hoke the P250 to a good sound system...

Its not seconds thoughts, I was just trying to say that it takes a couple of days getting used to the new sound.

Im getting happier with my new piano every day!
woohoo.

This reminds me of the first week I started playing. Instead of LIFTING the piano bench into position I tried to scoot it like you might a chair. Unfortunately I caught my pinky in the lid at the hinge point and my full weight came down between the seat lid and the case of the seat, Oh, poor pinky!! I had to bandage it up to play it was so tender. It took a month for the pain to subside though.

I'm in the same boat. I been using a keyboard, but finally decided I was serious enough, and got an acoustic piano.

I love it. The key weight thing was a little hard at first, so I started by playing simple beginning stuff, and gradually am working up to where I was with the keyboard.

Congrats! thumb
