FYI for those into the classic's. I went to my local music store today & bought Ave Maria, Canon in D, & Moonlight Sonata. I already had Fur Elise, Jesu Joy, Swan Lake, Eine Klein etc.
The arrangements are very nicely done & only $2.95 each. You really sound as if you are playing something substantial.

I will look for them at my local music store. It's a small shop, so they may not have them. I checked the internet, but could not find them.

Some of them say Santorella publications LTD on the back as well as Minstrel Press. Jesu Joy is EF2203
Hope you can find them. They are printed on almost cardboard type "paper" with a grand piano on the front in different colors, so they are not flimsy.

Luckychwee- Yes, that's me in my avatar. My progress is OK, I guess. Yesterday's practice session was awful. I could not play to save my life. And I'm getting VERY tired of my current method piece (Greensleeeves). I even accused mys son of changing my bench height or something. I needed something to blame for my poor performance. Now I'm nervous about practicing today in case it happens again. Mamma- Thanks for the specifics.

Jerry, are you keeping your hands separate until you have that section down pat? Are you rushing the piece, making mistakes?

I usually work on 2 to 3 pieces in each of my 3 method books between lessons (which are every other week). While most are generally helpful and pleasant enough to play, even the best of them can get tedious. When I encounter tedium or just keep screwing up on a particular piece, I'll go right on to something else and then try to come back to it during the same practice session. I find that struggling with a particular piece or section only becomes worse when I keep at it without a break.
And if I feel that I've achieve an acceptable level of mastery for my assigned pieces (I'm not a perfectionist like everyone else here, though), I'll start working on the next ones in the books.

This tactic only works well when the child is too young to talk or to understand that he or she is being blamed. Believe me--I've tried.

The part that is throwing me is from measure 9 to 10. The LH moves from an E chord (E,G#,B)to an A chord (A,C,E). I just can't figure out move my LH to the proper keys without looking (especially if I want to keep tempo). I have not figured out how to "feel" the black keys to determine where my fingers are. Using the indicated fingering, what you want to do is (after playing the E-G#-B), move the left hand over 'til you feel the space between Eb and F# with your thumb. Then slide it left until the thumb snugs up against Eb. You can then play the Amin triad easily.
Alternatively, and more efficiently, move the hand over 'til your middle finger bumps up against C# and play the chord.

You could also try using the first inversion of the E chord (G# B E) before the Am (A C E). That way, your 5 and 3 move up a half-step, and your 1 doesn't move.

Bob & Mark- I have printed out your suggestions, and I will take them to the keyboard with me and experiment with them. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks a lot for the suggestions.
