When the composer write in "Più F", with the f written as it would normally be written if it were a dynamics marking, do you play forte after that, or are they literally just simply saying "play this louder", as in louder then what you have been playing?

The second, you simply play louder than you were, not necessarily all the way to forte. It depends on the previous dynamic marking. You sometimes see più f after a ff which means you play a little louder than fortissimo.
