Aloha GeePee,
Wow!!! Great Photos!!! Love the piano, Tree, Nutcracker, and especially your fireplace!!! It's nice to play at night and stare at the Christmas tree. It is summer, down there right? Thanks for sharing.
Aloha!

Right on! Thanks for the comments RatMan, but I assure you, I just pick up the camera, point and click. Anything after that is down to dumb luck! On the other side of the coin, perhaps I should give up piano playing and try my hand at photography! ... maybe I'm a natural! ..........HAH!

Thanks for sharing. Normaly the piano lid is closed, and when I play I get all the light reflections across the lid ..... Ohhhhhhhhh But yes "polostrings" .... it is summer down this way. The fireplace in the photo is not used ... and that includes during winter! It's functional, but not an efficient heating unit .... that and the fact that the local council nazis would bring up every PC, tree hugging load of bollocks to stop us using it anyway (something about global warming .. don't start me!) Our home is 150 years old, so there are many bits and pieces within our house that don't gel with todays so called enlightened building codes and living standards. Anyway! .... I have a new Grotian in my lounge, so life is perfect ... what more could I want?!!

This is Cookie, (and you know who the guy in the red suit is). Cookie doesn't understand when people are weary of her. She loves everyone. She has only one mission in life... to get more food and earn more hugs. She weighs 116 pounds, but in her mind she is a 5 pound lap dog. (In a way, that is a lot like me.....In my mind I am still a size 5). MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
You can own a Chickering, Christifori, or Steinway, but if you can't play it.... It is just a piece of eye candy.

Cookie looks like a very good dog. Big dogs who think they're small, small dogs who think they're big. They have no concept of size, we could learn a thing or two from them.

GeePee, I also love the look of your beautiful piano and fireplace. But, what I'm most curious about are those three musical images, pictures(?) grouping that are on the wall in the second photo of your three pictures. They looked quite interesting. Key Notes

GeePee, I wondered.... Are those music books in the magazine rack? Nice. One look at that photo and I am off to get one for myself to take care of my overflowing music collection.

I couldn't quite tear my eyes away from that gorgeous Grotrian Charis! That model is new and the brand is rather rare - I appreciate the opportunity to look at one up close.

Key Notes Key Notes, The musical images you were referring to are in fact "Memory Blocks" made by Sid Dickens, out of Vancouver Canada. I picked these three up several yeras ago here in a local shop. There are several more though in the music themed series. Originally posted by IvoryDreams:

IvoryDreams, Yes they are indeed music books in the rack. I fell across this in an antique store about a month ago. It was made around 1893 out of a local native timber here in NZ, and was designed to be a music holder .... so I'm told. Whether it was or wasn't I don't really care. It's certainly different to a plain old table or cupboard so I bought it. The photo doesn't show it clearly, but it's divided into 3 sections on top plus a drawer below. GeePee

That Xmas Tree was at the downtown Eaton Centre. It was a tree sponsored by Swarovski. Here's a close up pic of the ornaments:

Great shots from both Kayla and Kawaigirl. That sunset is fantastic. I'd be very proud to have captured that, myself.
The Christmas lights are also very well done. It's not always easy to get well-exposed and sharp photos of things like that. Did you use a tripod or were you able to get a shutter speed fast enough to prevent blurring? In any case, they're really nice.
