WOOT!!!! Thanks, BDB!! First thing tomorrow I start scouting out tickets. Well, maybe the FIRST thing is to start softening hubby up for taking care of the kids while I go... laugh

Good luck to anyone planning to attend. I'll have to wait it out for something a bit closer to my neck of the woods (which will be without leaves and likely dusted with snow a few times by Nov 20.)

Let's just say I'm running into a little resistance on the home front, when I asked my hubby if it was okay for me to fly to SF for a couple of days to attend a concert at someplace called the Bimbo Club with a mr_super-hunky. laugh

Actually, the problem is that hubby has a major coin show he has to attend those same dates. So I need to find somebody (a) I trust, who (b) is willing and able to stay with the children for two days.

I'm going to go ahead and order a ticket for the concert now, though, just so I don't get shut out. Worst case scenario is that I can't go and end up wasting the fifty bucks.

Okay, I'm now the proud owner of a ticket to the Einaudi show!! yippie

It's general admission, so if I'm going to all the trouble of flying out from Lexington, Kentucky, I'm gonna be in line five hours before the doors open to get a good seat. smokin

Hooray, Monica! yippie

Will this make you an official Einaudi "Bimbo"?...very Einaudi of you.

I'm sure your hubby remembers the Madonna arrangement. :p

I'll be happy to serve as a chaperone for you and the Hunkster, if you believe it necessary. laugh

Enjoy your trip, the concert, and your shoeless bare feet once "settled in".

I don't, but the hubby might. laugh

Seriously, if anybody from the forum is going to be there, we should arrange to get together and grab lunch or something before getting in line for good seats. I haven't made my flight reservations yet but I'll probably arrange to arrive the day before just to allow for Delta to screw up the way it always does.

If it does, Mr. Super-Hunky may be disappointed. "Bimbo" means "little boy." Of course, it is San Francisco.

Mr. Bimbo was still alive when I first went there, although his son-in-law ran it then. Now his grandsons run it.

It is one of the most elegant night clubs in San Francisco.

BDB,

No offense intended as this banter is all in fun, but you may wish to check-out Dictionary.com definitions of "Bimbo"... especially No. 3.

I know that your observation about the elegance of Bimbo's 365 club is correct. thumb

Have a great day, laugh

BDB, have you been to concerts there? Do people sit in rows of seats or is it more of a table/chairs setup? Are people quiet during the performances or do people talk and eat throughout the show?

It is tables and chairs. How quiet the show is depends on the show and the audience. There are drinks, but no food.

You probably will not have to get there really early.

Parking can be difficult. You may want to take the Muni. The 30 bus and the Powell-Mason St. cable car stop within a block. The 9X, 47 bus, F streetcar, and Powell-Hyde cable car are a bit farther away. (There are others, but I am restricting myself to lines that run at night.) The two cable car lines start at the same place, so if you want the Mason line, check the signs, as tourists often just take the first car to come along. Cable cars are $5 each way, everything else is $1.50.

Works fine for me. Actually, I thought you would know about it. With a name like Super-hunky, I would suspect you would be there October 3 or 4. smile yippie

BDB, for some reason I still cannot get your link to work as it just comes up "network error".

I have a pathetically slow wild blue (they suck) satelite internet connection which is broadband so maybe the problem is with my provider.

Monica, thanks for providing the link as that comes up fine. Now I've got to try and see if I can make it for the show but I'll have to bring my wife as she does'nt trust me alone; especially if she knows Monica will be there laugh !
