Just before 8 am MST this morning, I did a search in Google and EVERY website came up marked "Warning This Site May Harm Your Computer." This includes our own PianoWorld and Google themselves. There was a thread in Google's help forums indicating that many other people were seeing the same thing and it is happening in various browsers. It wasn't happening on previous searches this morning (or at least I did not notice it).

Don't tell me we can't google. Or is it worse: are we not able to use the web at all? I hope Yahoo and LiveSearch are up to the load.

Rich

Well, it's working for me, too. I "googled" several times yesterday and did not notice anything wrong then, either. No, wait, I see from my istoyr that I used Yahoo search yesterday, so ignore that. laugh

EDIT: "history", not "istoyr." laugh

I heard today that it was a technical glitch; lasted for about an hour.

Just goes to show how frail most software systems are. Google with all the money in the world, the best engineers, no marketing pressure from competitors and one of the most critical apps on the web can still screw up. Sigh.

It is accurate.

And it doesn't have too many carriage returns.

I can’t find any mistakes at all.

It's kind of strange that a massive organization like Google could have made such an elementary mistake. Don't they do any kind of testing before rolling out changes? It's like America's lights going off because someone tripped over a wire at some plant.

Bugs can occur from out of nowhere and even the best make mistakes. Programming is no easy task..

Ok, so Google finally released what happened: It was human error. A \ was entered into the file containing all the potentially bad sites and this was essentially a wild card.
