ok i just thought i would post this as i am still going through this book....ok i got the cd with this book and some the songs on the cd seem to be played wrong, the book says slow but the cd plays it fast etc.etc. i finally just decided to throw out the cd, and go ahead and play without it, and find i am enjoying it more trying to figure out beat and rhythm. does anyone else have any comments on this??? just thought i would share my 2 cents before someone wastes the money on the book with the cd. the cd makes me not want to play any of the music in this book as it seems very very boring and leaves nothing to look forward to(for me anyways) and alot of it is played on the flute, and leaves nothing to the imagination. any further comments???

If it ain't fun I ain't doin' it:)

Which books are you referring to?

I have two. The Intro to Chopin and the Bach.

I love them both. Never thought to look at the music and then compare it to the way it was recorded.

I would chalk it up to poetic license, or in this case, pianist's interpretation. smile

I couldn't think of anything worse than everyone playing a piece exactly the same. I look at the sheet music as a general guideline, as far as the markings go. But I have to put my own passion into it, otherwise it's just a piece of paper that could be run through a computer and the result would be MUZAK. eek

I think you are talking about the Alfred's Adult All-In-One Course Level 2 (with CD).

I have it and I also do not like the CD.

The recordings are really bad. They are poor quality and they have all kinds of strange electronic accompaniment. I think they used a very early model electronic piano and the quality is terrible.

The terrible piano is on the right channel and the really bad accompaniment is on the left channel. So if you just want to hear the terrible piano you have to turn down the volume on the left side.

The book itself is OK. It is similar to the first book and expands on those lessons.

Oh, I wasn't aware of this book.

Thanks for the warning. That's unusual for Alfred to put out something that isn't good.
