Very sad news if what I have heard is true since I got back from Holiday.

I am sure he will be truly missed by many. Sadly, I never quite connected with his method but I loved the way he played and how his music sounded, he has been a major influence on my desires and wishes to improve the sound of my playing since I started nearly 4 years ago.

My thoughts are with his family and with all his devoted students who will be feeling a great emptiness.

I hope his work and methods are kept alive

That would be a nice legacy...may he rest in peace and his favorite piano be with him in heaven...

Oh, this is sad. frown If a measure of person's life is the positive impact he or she has had on others, though, Sudnow and his family could feel gratification that he had an accomplished life indeed.

I tried his course a few years ago. While it ended up not appealing to me, I felt it was a well thought out, alternative approach to being able to make beautiful music. Sudnow really seemed passionate about making piano playing more accessible.

I just found out yesterday here on ABF that he was sick, and I'm sorry to hear that he's gone.

I read one of his early books, in which he looked at learning to play jazz as an anthropologist would look it, and he had some good observations on what actually happens during the learning process, and I suppose he built on that in his course, tho I am not familiar with his course other than the folks who post here.

But he did seem to me to be dedicated to an innovative approach to learning to play piano, and I, like others, hope his work and methods continue to be built on by others. Sorry to see him go.

for many of us it is very sad news. I never met Suds in person but he has been my teacher for several years now and I know his voice very well.

He had huge impact on thousands of people's lives over the years. Some of his older students had been recently just beginning to find the website forum. The website may have been a recent adventure but it's clear his career of teaching piano extended way back before the internet.

Do not fear to be eccentric in opinion, for every opinion now accepted was once eccentric.
