I thought it would be fun to hear what everyone got related to their pianos and playing. Nice way to see what cool related products are out there, too!

I got The Piano Shop on the Left Bank and The Art of Practicing, and due to a thread on here about dusting under the strings I got that yellow Unger duster (will post how it works later)

Having bought the JP this year I did not ask for a whole lot else...

I also got four blissful hours of playing time yesterday, all dedicated to Christmas music, and the JP was in great form. It was wonderful, as is my family.

Nice presents! That string duster sounds neat.

I got my K & C grand in October as a Christmas present. yippie
I also just bought a lead crystal grand piano for a shelf in our music area.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas.

Oh.. and my daughter bought me a 'Mouscar (like an Oscar but you can guess the difference)' for Best Father at Disney MGM while we were there at Thanksgiving.. not really a piano related item but I like it enough that it sits on my piano. It's a hefty thing too..

What a great kid. Now if I can get her to practice more.. or at least enjoy it more.

I got this gorgeous piano lamp from right here at Piano World! I am very, very pleased with it.

I mentioned in another thread that I got the DVD "The Art of Piano" filmed by Christian Labrainde & Donald Sturrock. Great film snippets of some great performers. So far I think I've watched only about the first 6 or 7 hours of this 108 minute film.

I also recieved Rosalyn Tureck's Goldberg Variations, and another "Piano's Greatest Hits" CD.

Not a gift ... or one to myself ... I finally got my computer fixed to the point that I can use my Finale program again. (Transcribing from the Midi keyboard is FAST! )

Since I know that no one else would by it for me, I bought myself a Roland HPi - 7. It sounded like just the thing for a beginner like myself. Does anyone else out there have the same piano? I am looking for comments on how the piano functions as a tutor for those of us who are hard pressed for the time to take lessons. I haven't received the HPi - 7 yet since it seems that the only place in Canada that had one ready to ship was in Toronto. All I know is that the piano left Toronto on December 16. It's a long way to Whitehorse but having missed out on Christmas, hopefully I'll have it here before the year's end.

I am not sure about the modl of piano, but i use the roland tutor with my accoustic piano. IT is a really great feature, because you get instant feedback on timing, dynamics, - hope you enjoy your new piano.

I received several piano CDs that I asked for and two books of sheet Music, Elton John and Carol King. Lots of 7th chords, but what the heck, I'll try anything.

I got a dictionary of musical terms. Also a red leather basket to hold my music, and some music from my husband. I've been out of playing for 30+ years and had no music at all until a couple of months ago, so I really needed a lot of things! My husband plays trumpet so he also got a couple of pieces for trumpet and piano that we can (hopefully!) play together someday. The Pachabel looks a little too hard to me right now, but hopefully we can play it soon!

I got "CDsheetmusic- American Ragtime and Music Hall piano music". Over 850 pages of ragtime era sheet music on one CD. Very cool.

(I got the piano lamp for my birthday. . .)

I got the "Ultimate Fakebook" from my wife. Now, I can learn to improvise better from my teacher. There are over 1200 songs in this book! laugh

"was that new?"

Nope. It was 12-13 years old. I'm happy with it. Because I was a complete beginner, I didn't want to spend a whole lot because:

1. I didn't know enough to know what a good action felt like and what kind of sound I wanted in a piano.

2. I don't have to worry so much about dings and scratches. By the time I buy the model I really want, then I'll have learned what not to do. wink

Thanks for answering my nosey question Bob. Sounds like a smart plan. There is someone on the Piano forum inquiring about Samick (he is considering buying a 6'1" one) I mentioned that you had a Samick. I have a 5'9" Kohler & Campbell grand made by Samick, overall I am very happy with mine.
