Next group, and a good group it is: 64. AdagioM/Michele - Vals No. 1 from Valses Poeticos I can see why you like him. As wonderful as your knitting is, don’t give up the piano. You play too beautifully for that! This is a pretty piece and you play it lovingly. 65. Piano*Dad - Waltz in C-sharp minor Op. 64 no. 2 Bravo! (I confess to doing some editing in the past too). Your resulting performance is definitately worth it. Isn’t this a wonderful waltz. You always make me want to add things to my repertoire. (And two waltzes together…how interesting…maybe somebody’s been messing with the magic codes again. ) 66. ddh - Daniel - Wiegenliedchen 124.6 (Little lullaby) Like you I like to dabble in all kinds of music. I thought the tempo was fine for a lullaby. You have a nice legato which is just right for this piece. 67. cscl - Sonatina in C (Op. 36, No. 3, I-II) That 1st movement sounds tricky with all the scales, but you handled them very well. The 2nd movement is a nice contrast. You take with with assurance. Very nice performance, plumbers and all! I usually have a dog running in if I forget to take her collar off! 68. polostrings - Imagine I especially like the introduction—sounds so rich and full. 69. Kawai, Hi - Dragon Fly Great—short, sweet, well executed. 76. Extraghost - River Flows In You Sounds good—very mellow and relaxing. Hopefully you can take some of this serene feeling back to school with you. Clearly you have it in you. 77. Theowne - Prelude to the "Tombeau de Couperin" Suite Another steller entry. I thoroughly enjoyed this, Theowne. Wonderful way to end the recital. Skipping around a bit: 19. Eternal - Right Here WaitingPretty song, pretty arrangement, and great job playing. 20. TrueBeginner - Les Reves Du Matin ( The Morning Dreams ) Sounds very much like a quiet morning with the sunshine peeking in. You did a great job especially with the octave sections. 21. Laura D - Sonata K. 95, L. 358 I can see why you had fun with this. It’s sprightly. I think you did really well on the trills. 22. John Frank - Hava Nagila Hey! Let’s dance! Just don’t pick me up on a chair! You do a great job building up in the the Uru, uru achim sections. (BTW were you looking for the word “chutzpah) 23. Honnli / Steven - Suteki Da Ne / Isn't It Beautiful (Piano Collections) Yes it is beautiful. Really nice job on what is becoming a recital standard. It was lovely to hear your rendition. 24. Casyopea - Radio BalletIt can’t be easy to keep all those notes even, but you’ve done a nice job of it here. 25. epf - La Styrienne (Op 100, No. 14) A nice lively change of pace. We have quite a few waltzes this time, and I like this one especially. Your playing has both humor and grace. 26. Diane Cornellier - Minuet in G Excellent, Diane. Short and perfect. 27. Serge88 - Imagine Isn’t this a beautiful piece? Lovely chord voicings. 28. Seaside_Lee - What A Wonderful World This one makes me tear up a little. I think this may be my favorite of your recordings. You really keep the tempo going, which makes it very approachable. Nice crunchy chord at about 2:25. 29. Copper - Here There and Everywhere Quiet, comtemplative. Sounding great. 30. Mike White Yamaha G3 & P-80 - Granada Love the Spanish theme. The trills are beautiful and effortless sounding. I can imagine a guitar on a lovely balcony somewhere. 31. LaValse - Prelude Op 2 Oh, I was just beginning to enjoy this lovely piece and it was over. Too short. 32. joangolfing - Lied ohne Worte Op. 19 #4 "Confidence" Song Without Words I just saw your earlier post about this—have you had your piano party yet? It sounds lovely. Like a hymn with some sparkles in it. 33. LisztAddict - Gounod Ave Maria with Bach Prelude in C major from WTC book 1This is a great tempo for this piece. Another that makes me want to sing. Well executed. Can’t have been easy all that going on in the left hand. Perfect. 34. Gary001 - Minuet in G MajorWell done. I thought you did an especially good job with the ornaments. 35. Paul Cast - Sonatina Op.36 No.2-1 Allegretto I’m definitely looking forward to hearing the other movements in future recitals. Very clean well played performance. 36. Frotz / Brian - Sonata in A Major - Mvmt. 3 - Alla Turca I have to smile because this piece was used as a show-off piece in the film Pride & Prejudice. Sounds nice and showy to me. Great job. 37. Ken S. - Chopin a minor waltz (posthumous) Sounds vaguely eastern, doesn’t it. The minor melody over the waltz bass has a nice contrast to it. I like the way you press into the notes to bring them out, if that makes sense. More to come...
If I had ever learnt, I should have been a great proficient.

46. Manndrew - You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To Unique interpretation of this piece. I really like the way you introduced a “classical†feel to your improvisation.
50. GregF - Brahams's Lullaby Greg - Your DP has a very full and rich tone. Loved the introduction to this well played piece.

56. rustyfingers - Sentimental Journey Rustyfingers – Wow does this bring back memories of the old Dave Garraway show on my parents black and white TV in the living room as a “youtâ€. You played this with just the right amount of swing in the bass. I love the tone of your piano. Terrific!!

First batch!
01. Lisztener - "Gone" Lovely start to our recital. I loved this piece so relaxing and you play it with such control - making every note count. Wonderful!
02. dannylux / Mel - Glinka Nocturne in E flat I did like it. Very nice. Another sweet romantic piece. I don't imagine this is an easy piece to play but you made it sound so!
03. AnthonyB - Stella Del MattinoIt really does sound like a workout for the right hand. You've got great control and kept the melody singing as well. Nice job.
04. Ode2Joy - Prelude in F minor BWV 881 No need to be nervous! I think you did a great job. Bach isn't easy to play. I've done about 4 or 5 preludes and am working on a real finger-gymnastic piece right now so I know how difficult they can be.
05. Mr. super-hunky - *Magicland* Another beautiful piece. You've got a lot to live up to now that you're composing your own stuff! We'll be expectng Hunky originals from now on!!
06. jazzyprof - Etude op.25 #1 (Aeolian Harp) So beautiful! You can really hear the 'harp. Awesome job.
07. Mateusz 'Mati' Papiernik - Polskie drogi (Polish roads) Wonderful piece. It's easy to tell that this piece means a lot to you. It really shows.

09. Monica K. - Fairest Lord Jesus Wonderful as always. I always look forward to your entries. I know they'll be sweet and relaxing and so very well played.
10. Knotty - Just Friends - Improvisation Etude I'm such an admirer of improv. I'm actually taking separate lessons to learn how to do this. Still a mystery to me but hoping to see the light soon! Nice job!
11. Benny - Comptine d'un autre été: l'après-midi I've not heard this before. I really enjoyed it. (to do)
12. ohitpro - Morning Snowfall I didn't think it was begging for anything. Sounded wonderful to me! Nice job. You sound like you've been playing longer than 1.5 years!
13. b528nf7 - Bill - Ol' Man River Another vocal! Great. It's nice to hear people play and sing! It's a skill not many have. Thanks for sharing.
14. Riddler (Ed) - Rhapsody In Blue Very nice. I really enjoyed this and hadn't heard it before. Sounds tricky!

17. Orez Eno - Comptine d'un autre ete: l'apres-midiWonderful! Thank you for sharing your experience with this piece, the workshop and your teacher. I really enjoyed the piece even more knowing your struggles.
18. glitzer - Petite valse from Kinderalbum It is lovely and charming. You sound like you enjoy playing it which makes it so much fun to listen to.
19. Eternal - Right Here Waiting This is one of my favourite pieces. It was played at a memorial service of a coworker of mine a very long time ago and it always brings a smile to my face to hear it and remember him so fondly. Thankyou for sharing it.
20. TrueBeginner - Les Reves Du Matin ( The Morning Dreams ) Sounded 'dreamy' to me. We are always our worst own critics. This was lovely and only someone really familiar withthe piece would be able to detect any problems. I thought it was geat!
21. Laura D - Sonata K. 95, L. 358 Wow! you've got those trills (or turns or mordents..) really down! I've been playing for almost twice as long as you and I'm still struggleing to make them sound smooth...
22. John Frank - Hava Nagila Thanks John. I love this piece and it always makes me think of the many movies and TV shows that play this during weddings. So much fun!
It's the journey not the destination..

58. Ozor Mox - The Portrait Professional sounding performance. I am always impressed by fellow play-by-ear folks who get such great results. Why so hard on Celine Dion?

71. Mark... - Spooky Story & American Hymn Mark – nice medley. I have not heard either of these pieces before but really enjoyed your rendition of American Hymn. 72. Mar_red - Moon River Very nice performance of an American standard. I like what you did with the melody line echoing in the right hand. Nice job of improvising. I think you are already there (reaching your goal of “beautiful melody and jazzy chordsâ€)
73. IPIBAHN - Sandy - Tarantella - Prokofiev Sandy – it is easy to give positive feedback on this one – Well Done!! This is a very challenging piece and you beat it into submission. It does sound like you are having fun with it.
75. etorrales - Nocturn in Eb Major What a beautiful piece! Well done and thanks for submitting.
76. Extraghost - River Flows In You Wow! If you are as quick a study with your college courses as you are on piano you will go far. I’m shocked at the sophistication of your playing after less than a year. Way to go!

Thanks Rustyfingers and b528nf7 for your kind words.
With my level of skill and experience (the one at the bottom) I don't feel I qualify for coment on anybody's performance apart from saying I loved listening every single one and I am in awe of where I can get if I keep working.
Thanks for sharing!

[ [/b] "chutzpah" - Yes, that's exactly what I was looking for - good grief, I wasn't even close - I knew what I wanted to say, but didn't know how to spell it (obviously ) - I've heard the word used but never seen it in print - thanks for the correction (and lesson) Regards (what do you expect - I'm only Jewish on an "honorary" basis anyway) JF

21. Laura D - Sonata K. 95, L. 358 Laura – very nice!! I wish it were longer as it was such a joy to listen to.
23. Honnli / Steven - Suteki Da Ne / Isn't It Beautiful (Piano Collections) Steven – wonderful touch and feeling! You have complete command of the piano and this song. Very well done.
24. Casyopea - Radio Ballet I love watching folks play on Youtube – great video. I added my 5 star rating to the others’.

[/b] Bill - you forgot me! I'm sure you didn't mean to "slight" me and that it was just an "inadvertent oversight" due to some "unanticipated distraction" - but, please don't go out of your way to make amends - instead let me take care of it for you (simply as a gesture of good will) - I'll pretend I'm you and I'll give a review of me (I hope this isn't being too presumptuous!) Here goes: 22. John Frank - Hava Nagila - it took a lot of chutzpah (or as you call it "hutsva" :p ) for you to play this time-honored traditional piece with the lack of "polish and finese" (as you say) that you did (and that was obvious to even the most casual observer), and still claim that it "was the 2nd most fun you've ever had while sitting down" (I'm not sure if that's some smutty reference or not) - I wish I could say the same thing sitting here listening to it, but alas . . . well, I guess we should all be thankful (as if this is some big consolation) that at least you didn't assault our ears by singing along with your unpolished playing - especially if your singing is in the same class (or lack thereof) as your pianistic skills (such as they are)! Chutzpah only goes so far, you know. Well, if I can think of anymore "left-handed compliments" I'll pick this review up later - you've been warned! Bill (JF actually ) Well, how'd I do? Self-parody can be a brutal thing! Regards, JF

I applaud everyone who has had the courage, motivation and skill to take part in this recital. However I find the sheer size of it overwhelming - and it seems unfair to respond to only a few pieces. Isn't there some way the e-citals could be staggered so there were more, smaller ones instead of this great unwieldy thing?

#4. Ode2joy- A very refreshing version of the bach piece. well done.I especially like the middle section.
#15. Kawaigirl1- that really did have a winter feel to it. Very dreamy and nicely played.
#53. Babama- wow was that dramatic. Excellent playing! You have a great feel for the piece.
#60. Babs- One of my favorite preludes. I remember being told to think of the left hand being a cello and like you say, the right hand could be toiling bells. You really captured the mood. Nice peddling too.
#61. Oxfords gal- I can see that as you learn this it could be really fun to play. Lively and cheerful. Nice job gal!
#64. Adagio M- really glad you decided to put this in the recital. It's absolutely lovely! It's one of those works that starts me dreaming of scenarios and images. A dreamy morning, the sun just coming up, mist, walking by the water.
#69. Kawai- talk about your short and sweet! Ha. good job.

There were certain excellent players missing from this Recital who usually contribute very nice works - did you notice that too?

Anthony - Stella del Mattino -- That sounds like a good workout! Nice job on this one. Very enjoyable.
Ode2Joy - Prelude in F minor BWV 881 -- Bach is one of my favorites and nearly always extremely challenging. You played this one splendidly. Looking forward to hearing the fugue someday.
Mr. super-hunky - *Magicland* -- I’m beginning to recognize your playing just by hearing it. Your playing is distinctive and enchanting. Your compositional skills are amazing! Very enjoyable piece.

I have been enjoying all 77 pieces from Recital 12. It is an amazing collection. It always gives me ideas for pieces to select to play and inspires me to keep practicing. I made a Word Document for those who want to have a "handy printout" of this recital. It includes the performer, title of piece, composer, Digital or acoustic piano, and the recording method. 01. Lisztener - "Gone" The touch and the feel for this piece is passionate and seamlessly flowing. Earlicious! 02. dannylux / Mel - Glinka Nocturne in E flat As always an unknown pearl brought alive with brilliant playing. Wonderful Mel! 03. AnthonyB - Stella Del Mattino Immensely impressive for 10 months! I would never thought you haven't played for much longer. Beautiful - keep it up! As for me, you can submit Einaudi to the next recital too! 04. Ode2Joy - Prelude in F minor BWV 881 Hey! Now I know where does the melody come from! I knew it but never knew it was Bach. Well played! Don't ever try to miss any more Recitals, it's a pleasure to listen to you! 05. Mr. super-hunky - *Magicland* Super-hunkyness to the full extent - bravo! 06. jazzyprof - Etude op.25 #1 (Aeolian Harp) It's beyond my imagination how to play such a difficult piece so well. My deepest respect to all Chopin Etudes players! 08. Peyton - The Last Man Alive Nothing short of amazing - you are a great composer, great pianist and a great singer Peyton. It's wonderful to hear original compositions - even more wonderful to hear them be that brilliant. 09. Monica K. - Fairest Lord Jesus Monica, you never cease to amaze me, and this time it's no different. Great piece of enjoyment. 10. Knotty - Just Friends - Improvisation Etude Yeah! My foot was taping all the way through! I love jazz - so sadly I can't (yet) play that way. 11. Benny - Comptine d'un autre été: l'aprÄs-midi This piece is a little gem I play everytime I'm asked to play something, and I keep it in readiness all the time. It's so French in its sound - I literally see those landscapes of Paris when I hear it. Beautifully played. 12. ohitpro - Morning Snowfall Very happy and enchanting piece! 13. b528nf7 - Bill - Ol' Man River Wow! Next singer here! I'm in complete awe for those who can sing while playing. Your performance is wonderful, Bill - very moving! 14. Riddler (Ed) - Rhapsody In Blue May "some professionals" say whatever they want - I loved it. 15. Kawaigirl1 - Winter Walk Just what I would expect from Kawaigirl1 - beautiful melody keeping me in chair enchanted. 16. flyingfroggy - Prelude in C# minor Op. 3 No. 2 Well done! I will have some insights in Critical thread how to improve it even more 17. Orez Eno - Comptine d'un autre ete: l'apres-midi Commenting twice on the same piece is a difficult thing to do. I don't have this problem here - you played it wonderfully. I especially like the steady rhythm throughout - you don't rush the pace when the triples come in. 18. glitzer - Petite valse from Kinderalbum Lovely little waltz! Fully fit for public display, not only because this is adult BEGINNER's. Bravo! 19. Eternal - Right Here Waiting Everyone knows and loves - I listened to your playing many times with cheerful grin on my face. Thanks! 20. TrueBeginner - Les Reves Du Matin ( The Morning Dreams ) Despite tricky parts you mentioned, you did a great job on this one - it is completely smooth 21. Laura D - Sonata K. 95, L. 358 I don't know many of Scarlatti's pieces, but I loved this one and your playing! 22. John Frank - Hava Nagila Mukyaaaa! FUN! Lots of FUN! 23.
