So, today is the one year anniversary of my very first piano lesson, and who better to share that with than my buddies here at ABF! Though sidelined in early February with a broken hand and still dealing with some musculoskeletal issues as a result, I'm continuing weekly lessons and enjoying every minute devoted to learning and playing. What an adventure! This is, without question, one of the best things I've ever done for myself!

While I haven't been able to practice much recently due to the ongoing hand/wrist problems, my instructor has encouraged me to work on theory, rhythmic patterns, and even some signing. (That was that horrible screeching noise you've probably noticed ringing in your ears lately.) laugh

Anyhoo, I just wanted to share this with you all. I know you can understand the pride I feel at reaching this milestone. yippie

Congratulations, Blues Babe! Looking back over your past year, what would you say has been the biggest insight you've gained?

Blues Babe,

Congratulations on your one year anniversary of taking lessons. wink

It's good to see that you are maintaining an enthusiastic spirit after breaking your hand.

Hopefully, you'll be back on the bench with a vengeance real soon. Keep up the good work and good attitude. laugh

Regards,

Lisztener

Blues Babe,

Congratulations and keep up that enthusiasm! I've been playing for just about six months but only a couple of those have been actual lessons. Just to get some idea of where I might be at one year..... where are you now? Are you following a specific method?

Happy Anniversary Blues Babe!

Haven't heard much from you lately, so it's good to see you're still hanging in there in spite of physical problems.

Time sure does fly. Can hardly believe my 2-year is coming up at the end of August.

Here's wishing you many happy pianoversaries to come! yippie

Blues Babe,

Wishing you a most happy anniversary. They say the first year is the toughest in a marriage so from here on in it will be smooth sailing with you and your keyboard. I toast my morning cup of coffee to you. Cheers.

Well done!

I am returning in September with a new teacher. I am looking forward to it, I go to meet him tomorrow where I think he wants to hear and see me play and give me a schedule to work on over my summer break!

Hi there Blues Babe.

Congratulations on your one year piano lesson anniversary and your continued desire to learn to play the piano in spite of your hand injury.

Several years ago, I had an accident at work and severely cut my left index finger on my left hand. In fact, I almost cut it completely off. I was in the hospital for three days and had surgery to try to save my finger. Fortunately, the orthopedic surgeon was able to save my finger. Although it’s a little shorter than it use to be and I lost some use in my finger and my left hand, I have not let it deter me form my music. I remember when the accident happened the first thought that came into my mind was that my music career was over.

The injury has impeded my guitar, 5-string banjo and violin playing some, but it does not seem to affect my piano playing much at all. In fact, it is one of the reasons I got interested in the piano in the first place. So, let me encourage you to keep up the good work on your piano lessons.

Best regards,

Rickster

Blues Babe,

I like your perseverance! To many that would be an excuse to take a break from piano. (I didn't mean that pun, really) laugh

There is a lot of other things to direct your attention to in music study, and I'm glad you found that focus and opportunity.

Have a great weekend in Portland - straight shot down I-5 and back!

Betty

Congratulations. Keep it up. You got through the hard stuff. It keeps being more and more fun, the more you understand and get. I love playing the blues too.

Great job.
